About the Test:
The 24-hour urinary dopamine test measures the total amount of dopamine excreted in urine over a full 24-hour period. Dopamine is a catecholamine involved in nervous system function and regulation of blood pressure.

Why is it Done?

• Evaluation of suspected catecholamine-secreting tumors such as pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma
• Investigation of unexplained episodes of high blood pressure, headache, sweating, or palpitations
• Monitoring catecholamine production when clinically indicated

Sample Collection:
Collect all urine passed over a complete 24-hour period in the designated container. Follow the laboratory's collection and storage instructions carefully.
