Test Name: Dengue IgM Antibody by Rapid Card, Serum

Purpose:
This test is used to detect IgM antibodies against the Dengue virus in serum. The presence of Dengue IgM antibodies generally indicates a recent or current Dengue infection.

Why is this test done?

• To aid in the diagnosis of Dengue fever.

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Joint and muscle pain

When is the test useful?

• Typically performed after 4–5 days of symptom onset when IgM antibodies begin to appear in the blood.
• Helps support clinical diagnosis alongside other Dengue tests such as NS1 Antigen and Dengue IgG.

Interpretation:

• Positive: Suggests a recent Dengue virus infection.
• Negative: Dengue IgM antibodies not detected; early infection cannot be completely ruled out.
