Test Overview:
This test detects IgM and IgG antibodies against Dengue virus in serum using the ELISA method. It helps support the diagnosis of dengue infection and provides information about the likely stage of infection.

Why is this test done?

• Evaluation of suspected dengue infection
• Detection of dengue-specific IgM antibodies associated with recent infection
• Detection of IgG antibodies indicating past exposure or possible secondary infection
• Assessment of patients with fever and symptoms suggestive of dengue

Parameters:

• Dengue IgM Antibody
• Dengue IgG Antibody

Clinical Significance:

• IgM Positive: May indicate a recent or current dengue infection.
• IgG Positive: May indicate previous exposure; an early IgG response can also occur in secondary dengue infection.
• IgM & IgG Negative: No detectable antibodies at the time of testing; early infection cannot always be excluded.

Symptoms commonly associated with dengue:

• High-grade fever
• Severe headache
• Pain behind the eyes
• Muscle and joint pain
• Nausea or vomiting
• Skin rash
• Weakness or fatigue

Report: IgM and IgG antibody results
Interpretation: Results should be correlated with the patient's symptoms, duration of fever, and other laboratory findings. A negative antibody result early in illness may require repeat or additional testing based on clinical advice.

Note: This is an antibody test and should not be interpreted alone to confirm or exclude dengue infection.
