Test Name: Cyclin D1 by Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

What is the test?
Cyclin D1 IHC is a tissue-based immunohistochemical test used to detect Cyclin D1 protein expression in biopsy or surgical tissue specimens. Cyclin D1 is involved in regulation of the cell cycle, and its abnormal expression can be associated with certain hematological and solid tumors.

Clinical Significance

• Particularly useful in the evaluation of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
• Helps identify tumors with Cyclin D1 overexpression.
• May assist in differentiating certain lymphomas and other neoplasms when interpreted with morphology and additional markers.
• Results should be correlated with clinical findings, histopathology, and other IHC/molecular tests.

Sample: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue block or unstained tissue sections.

Method: Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

Result: Reported based on the presence, localization, and intensity/pattern of Cyclin D1 staining.

Important Note: Cyclin D1 expression alone is not diagnostic of a specific malignancy. Interpretation should be performed by a qualified pathologist as part of a complete diagnostic panel.
