Culture & Sensitivity, Aerobic, Urine – Automated Identification & Sensitivity on VITEK
Test Overview
Urine Culture & Sensitivity is performed to detect and identify bacteria causing urinary tract infections (UTIs) and determine which antibiotics are likely to be effective.
Method
The isolated microorganism is identified using the VITEK automated identification system, followed by automated antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). The system provides an organism identification along with its antibiotic susceptibility profile.

Clinical Significance
