Overview

A Blood Culture & Sensitivity test is performed to detect aerobic bacteria present in the bloodstream. If bacteria are found, they are identified using conventional microbiological methods, followed by Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) to determine which antibiotics are most effective for treatment.
